Notable Catches in the Bishop Creek Canyon

Rick McCostlin from Taft, CA with a solid 3lb 'bow caught at South Lake

Jim Green from Laguna Niguel with a monster Alper from South Lake caught on the fly.

 

Matt Pleines and Tyler Home from Orange County had a great day at South Lake landing Rainbows weighing 3.10, 2.84 and 2.22 lbs using mini-jigs with Bite-On garlic scent.

Jamie Wood from Moreno Valley caught a solid 2.93lb Rainbow at the South Lake inlets using an orange mini-jig.

Matthew Petri from Palmdale, CA caught this 2.53lb Alper on a Brown Trout Thomas Bouyant at the Rock Slide.

Joe Mockewhaupt from Canyon Country nailed a 3.4lb beauty using a Gulp Trout worm at the Long Lake Inlet.

Rod Behbood and Phyllis Hines from Orange County posing with 'bows weighing 2.82 and 2.34lbs caught using mini-jigs at the Rock Slide.

Jake and Jason Rice from Big Bear, CA posing with a beautiful 3lb 7oz 'bow that young Jake caught at the dam using a mini tube-jig.

Jim Mcdavis of Bakersfield, CA with a huge 10lb 2oz Rainbow caught at the Gilbert Glacier inlet at South Lake on a brown mini-jig with blue flake.

Frank Rodriguez of Lancaster, CA with a 8lbs 10oz caught at South Lake by the Dam on Powerbait.

Former South Lake staffers Ryan & Jefe brought up a few friends and had a banner day on South Lake catching four fish between 3 and 9lbs and released nearly 100 pan sized fish all caught on mini-jigs.

Ryan Wischnack from Santa Clarita, CA with a gorgeous 9lb South Lake rainbow caught on a mini-jig at the Rock Slide.

Rob Samuel from Grand Terrace, CA with a 3lb 6oz 'bow caught on a mini-jig.

Parchers Resort GM Jared Smith with a nice 3lb South Lake Rainbow that fell for a mini-jig at the dam. This fish was CPR - caught & photographed and released.

Kim Deniz of La Habra, CA with a little help from her fishing guide Jared Smith posing with a solid 22" holdover Brood Stock fish that weighed an estimated 5 and half pounds. This was Kim's first time fishing ever - beginners luck!!

Mike Unger from Chino, CA with a 4lb 11oz Rainbow caught at the Rock Slide on South Lake using a yellow Powerworm.

Tim Hoyt from Rancho Cucamonga, CA with a huge 7lb 5oz 'bow caught at the Long Lake inlet using a grasshopper mini-jig with an orange Powerworm trailer.

Seven-year-old P. Christian Medina from Inglewood, CA with a gorgeous 6lb trout caught near the dam at South Lake on Chunky Cheese Powerbait. This young man fought the fish entirely on his own with just a little coaching from his dad....awesome!

Patti from Lakeside CA with a 3lb 1oz beauty caught at the Rock Slide on a red/gold Thomas Bouyant.

Scott Biltonen of Pomona, CA with a 4lb 2oz Brown he caught at the Owens River on a nightcrawler.

Tim Carnahan of Rancho Mirage, CA with another pair of Alpers weighing 3lb 8oz and 2lb 8oz each caught out of the South Fork Bishop Creek on mini-jigs and Rapalas.

Lori Carnahan from Rancho Mirage, CA with a 3lber caught from South Lake using a Brook Trout pattern Rapala CD-1.

Mike Freer of Encinitas, CA with a 2lb 8oz Rainbow caught in the So. Fork Bishop Creek on a salmon egg.

Carol Eberhardt from Fullerton, CA with a 2lb 10oz rainbow caught in the So. Fork Bishop Creek on a Rainbow Thomas Bouyant 6-3-11

Mike Lear and Michael Lear from Rancho Cucamonga, CA with a pair of nice Alpers. Mike (left) caught his 3lb 6oz rainbow at Weir Pond on a Black Wooly Bugger. Michael (right) caught his rainbow that weighed in at just under 2lbs on the So. Fork Bishop Creek 6-3-11

Tim & Lori Carnahan with six alpers weighting between 2lbs and 4lbs 2oz caught on the Middle Fork Bishop Creek using mini-jigs and homeade flies on 6-3-11.

Tim Carnahan of Rancho Mirage, CA with a pair of Alpers from the Middle Fork Bishop Creek. One fish weighed in a 2lbs and the other weighed in at 3lbs 4oz - both caught on mini-jigs 6-1-11.
